  • Google says that a DMOZ.org link is unnatural (by mistake)

As mentioned in one of our previous blog posts, Google seems to show regular links as bad link examples in unnatural link warning messages.

This time, a webmaster received an unnatural link warning via Google Webmaster Tools and one of the two examples given was a DMOZ.org link. DMOZ.org is one of the oldest directories on the Internet and Google even said in the past that links from DMOZ.org are good.

After showing this example, on Google+, Google’s John Mueller said that this was a mistake:

“That particular DMOZ/ODP link-example sounds like a mistake on our side.”

When you receive an unnatural link warning message, don’t panic. If you used spam to promote your website, remove the spam. Otherwise, follow our tips to improve your rankings on Google.
