Google: we won’t delist websites that are not mobile friendly

On his Google+ page, Google’s John Mueller made clear that Google won’t delist websites that are not mobile friendly:

“It’s great to get people motivated to make their website mobile-friendly, but we’re not going to be removing sites from search just because they’re not mobile-friendly. You can test your pages & reach our documentation (including some simple tweaks that might work for your CMS too) at //g.co/mobilefriendly.”

The mobile ranking algorithm will only have an effect on the position of your web pages in Google’s mobile search results.

Being mobile-friendly is not enough

A website that currently does not have high rankings won’t get high rankings just because it is mobile-friendly. There are many more things that Google wants to find on your web pages. Check your website with the website audit tool in SEOprofiler to make sure that Google can index all pages of your website.

In addition, use the Top 10 Optimizer in SEOprofiler to make sure that Google shows your web pages for the right keywords. If you haven’t done it yet, create your SEOprofiler account now:
