Google’s Matt Cutts: responsive design has no negative effect on SEO

In a video on YouTube, Google’s Matt Cutts answered the question “Is there an SEO disadvantage to using responsive design instead of separate mobile URLs?”

Responsive website design means that the design of a web page changes depending on the device that is requesting the page. People that view the web page with a normal web browser on a computer will see the normal page, people on tablet computers will get a slightly smaller version of the page, people who view the page on a mobile phone will see the content of the web page in yet another format.

According to Matt Cutts, responsive design has no negative influence on search engine optimization:
