Google’s John Mueller said on Google that exact match domains (EMD) do not get a magical ranking bonus on Google. For example, your website won’get a ranking bonus for the keyword “blue widgets” if the domain is “www.blue-widgets.com”:
Well, if there's *no* competition, then do whatever you want. There's no magic EMD bonus.

Of course, exact match domains often have links that contain the exact match domain name. That might lead to an indirect ranking advantage for exact match domains because they are linked with these words. In 2012, Google released a penalty for low quality exact match domains so you have to be careful with that.
