Not recommended: thin content pages

It takes time to create high-quality content. That’s why many people try to create content automatically. Unfortunately, that does not lead to good results. Google does not like thin content:

“Some webmasters attempt to improve their pages’ ranking and attract visitors by creating pages with many words but little or no authentic content. Google will take action against domains that try to rank more highly by just showing scraped or other cookie-cutter pages that don’t add substantial value to users.

Examples include autogenerated content, doorway pages, scraped content or low-quality guest blog posts, thin affiliate sites.”

Producing content that no one wants to read won’t help your rankings on Google and other search engines.

The better alternative

According to Google, one of the most important steps in improving your site’s ranking in Google search results is to ensure that it contains plenty of rich information that includes relevant keywords, used appropriately, that indicate the subject matter of your content.

First of all, check your web site for thin-content pages. The website audit tool in SEOprofiler identifies these pages for you. Just open your SEOprofiler account and go to Website Audit > Content topics. That page shows the most popular topics of the website, and it shows the pages that have the least content:

Of course, pages with just a few words can still be relevant pages. However, you should check the pages that contain only a few words to find out if they need your attention.

Create engaging content for your audience. If your website contains many pages that are relevant to the topic of your website, it will be easier to get high rankings for the individual pages.
